Press release
The New Zealand Outdoor Party has modified its name to the Freedom Party, in response to people requests for a simple name and the decline of democracy. In a newsletter announcing the change, the party said the battle lines had become clearer in political terms.
“For too long, the connection between the people of New Zealand and the laws that govern us has been broken. We submit to select committees, do petitions, we voice our concerns, and yet, time and again, the will of the people is ignored in favor of political agendas.”
Politicians have become guilty of making decisions based on their agendas and not the interest of people.
The party believes it is time to stop trying to fix a broken system and start changing it entirely.
“That is why we are rebranding as Freedom. Our mission is simple: to shift the power back to where it belongs with you! Via development of a pillar policy of Direct Democracy.”
At its core, Direct Democracy is a system where the power to create, approve, or reject laws lies directly with the people, rather than relying solely on elected representatives to make those decisions for us.
“We still stand for all our core values, standing against poisons like 1080, standing against government overreach, for human rights and for local communiites. YES we will stand for the protection of our great outdoors and our access to it , but we believe something will have to change for the government to listen to its people and for the bloated bureaucracy to be lessened.”
The Freedom Party is enlisting support.

You cannot avoid politics in the outdoors. Political decisions made by short-sighted politicians or for hidden greedy agendas, must be fought with political means like a political party, action fronts etc..
I’ll support any one or any party that has the courage to stand up and fight. And I’ll put my shoulder to the wheel. Will you whoever is reading this?
Good on the new Freedom Party!
Eighty percent of success is showing up. Too many are wracked by apathy. Wake up you guys and gals. The likes of Shane Jones and Chris Bishop are stealing your land for their corporate bed-fellows
Shane Jones want to be like a mad dog chasing his tail wanting to exploit public lands to idolise GDP. The fact is growth for the sake of growth has the ideology of the cancer cell.
This thinking by Freedom Party reminds me of a very excellent book “100 days” by Amy Brooke. It’s about the Swiss style of government where the people have the power, not the corrupt politicians. Google it and get a copy. It’s excellent.
