CORANZ is very strictly apolitical, but we do see apathy as a far greater threat to democracy than any political candidate.
With local body elections looming, and closing midday on Saturday 8th October, it is vital you exercise your right to vote – a right fought so gallantly for by our forebears.
It is not for CORANZ to tell you who you should vote for, nor promote any particular political party, that is for you and you alone to decide.
But how to decide?
Fortunately for us, The Spinoff has created an online resource at https://policy.nz/ to help with your decision making process.
Breaking down candidate policies into topics such as:
- Climate change and resilience
- Environment
- Housing and planning
- Jobs and economy
- Local democracy
- Rates and revenue
- Recreation and culture
- Transport
- Utilities and services
The website certainly helped me select candidates supporting my ideals and opinions – hopefully it will help you.
But all I can do is urge each and every one to get out there and vote
Andi Cockroft
Chairman, CORANZ
I believe voting should be compulsory as it is in Australia.
Voting is the basis for the full and proper functioning of democracy.
Voting gives you an opportunity to be part of decision-making that affects your life and the future of our country. If you don’t vote, others will make the decisions for you.
History shows that democracies in danger of losing their freedom, register low voter turnouts.
In thriving democracies, people vote in large numbers and the people’s voice remains supreme. So well spoken CORANZ. Make sure you vote but do research first to make your best judgement.
More than ever our vote needs to be counted to halt the evil forces at work in our once proud democracy. Ardern & her racist cabal are leading us rapidly into apartheid division by chance of ancestry. The evil tags attached to this are totally out of keeping in our reasoned & stable democracy. The ballot box is the halt line for us.Please don’t let it slip past without action. Oten quoted, I repeat too.”For evil to happen, all it takes is for good people to do nothing!”
If only people could realise the power they hold
Our “Team of 5 Million” should be encouraged to think
The “team of 5 million” is like a sleeping giant. If aroused it could be politically powerful. Then like France, politicians would respect the people.
