Award winning author Neville Peat of Dunedin has been a  writer for over 50 years. During his working life Neville has visited many of the islands off New Zealand’s and even in the the tropics and Antarctica. This book is about several of these islands, including Stewart Island/Rakiura, Anchor Island in Dusky Sound, Kāpiti Island and Tiritiri Matangi in the Hauraki Gulf. Further afield, the book also covers Ross Island in Antarctica, Enderby Island in the subantarctic Auckland Islands, the Chatham Islands and the New Zealand dependency of Tokelau.
Neville Peat is an accomplished writer and covers his subjects well even going back into history and Maori and James Cook’s times.  Written with personal anecdotes often punctuating the chapters and historical research, the book is both an informative and very interesting read. Rates highly.
